New school and new job.
Well, they all made it through the first day. Bogdan had a full day of orientation and was home on time for dinner (I know you are all surprised at that) We are now covered by the company's health and dental insurance, can you see Karen doing a little victory dance? Bogdan starts this week and promises to try to get home for dinner on time.
Marian had her first day of school yesterday and was so-so about it. She likes her teacher, Mrs. Niethammer (pronounced Neat-hammer) and made a friend, named Fleur. She does not like the heat, and came home tired and cranky. But, after a freeze pop and some chilling in the air conditioning, she talked about her first day. They learned the routine of school and met the classmates. Her school is nice and spread out on one level, about 450 kids total in the school. Very organized place.
Gabriel and Anna did well at the middle school. Anna wore a t-shirt on the first day that says "Don't worry, I forgot your name too." She said everyone liked it. Anna has band every day, a difference from the NH schools. They also have gym/PE every other day. They both get their lockers today and are excited about that. Gabriel has to take a math placement exam today, since they didn't trust or believe me when I told them he was good at math. He has the football coach for 2 classes and he is also Gabriel's homeroom teacher. They have both made friends. There are about 700 kids in the middle school and it is a very big building, 3 floors total. One thing I've noticed that is different, is that there are a number of unused classrooms, used for storage. That wouldn't happen in NH!!
The garage door opener broke last night, but the on site manager has already promised it will be fixed today. Another thing we've noticed is the fruit flies. More than I have ever seen in my years in NH. But, they are easy to eliminate.
Thanks for reading!

Hey Karen! I'm so glad you guys made it in once piece (in spite of the last-minute ER visit), and are settling in. :) We miss you already -- I found myself looking for you at Mass on Sunday, and only realized as we were leaving that, DUH, you're in TN! Oh well...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with those fruit flies -- I've had them something awful this summer, and if they're worse than that, I don't envy you!
